Synopsis
“Beneath the Veil: Whispers of Her Inner Strength” is a panel dialogue organised by the Muslim Converts’ Association of Singapore (MCAS) – Women’s Wing. The session will explore the lived experiences of Muslim women in Singapore, focusing on themes of faith, identity, marriage, and community belonging. The dialogue will highlight the contrast between expectations and realities in women’s lives, particularly in navigating personal relationships, family roles, and societal pressures. It will also touch on the challenges faced by foreign domestic workers who may encounter social or legal difficulties arising from unlawful marriages or partnerships. The panel will address issues such as family tensions, emotional and physical abuse, and the coping mechanisms that help women overcome adversity. The objective is to create a safe and respectful space for open conversation, raise awareness of these realities, and encourage resilience and stronger community support for women.
